I chose the title, Neglected Kitchen, for this piece. But it was actually a painting of a deserted farm house in Russellville, Ohio that a group of painters and I came across as we were searching for good painting spots when we attended a paint out at Lake Waynoka Ohio.
The home was charming Dust and dirt had settled on everything, and you could see the paw prints from cats that had left their mark in the dirt.
This piece fits in well with the other rural paintings I am focusing on, and takes me back to my grandparents’ old farm and nursery, though their place was much cleaner. The older stove and the small kitchen is representative of a lot of older places. I can’t find words to describe the emotions that I feel when I think back on this time.
This painting captures the light difference well. Lost and found edges in this simplified color pallet create unity within the painting. The distorted perspective further adds to the drama and focus of the overall composition.
