It is getting my conceived idea onto my canvas. Visualization in my mind is always better than realization. It is like the concept the anticipation or excitement of a vacation is so much better in my mind than the actual vacation.

What I find is that every one of my paintings has some type of exploration in mind at the on set of the painting. And through the development of the painting an idea can emerge that is better or worse than I preconceived at the onset of the painting. Or an idea can mutate and become better than I originally conceived. And the indiscriminate marks that I make in attempt to create my vision can sometimes marvel me into adjusting my original intent. Like some new knowledge has opened up before my eyes. The quest of knowledge or better wisdom in painting must be my greatest goal.

What I do know is that the building up of successes in my painting gives me greater confidence to move forward and develop future paintings. Like one building block building upon another I move towards my goal. I do not have an end in mind, fore the end is death that would stop me from painting, but what I want to create is something that will be marveled. And to be marveled at can be accomplished from just one buyer that has to have that painting because it means so much to him or her.

Again, art becomes very personal. What a great medium we can enjoy. Creating must be the best part of life; the rest is just acting out on the plan before us. And doing the same thing over and over again is boring.
