When I stated my rough sketch before painting this painting I noticed my shadow on the steps and thought it may be a good thing to keep in the painting, my shadow. This is where the title of the painting comes from.
Those who know me understand that I enjoy T.C. Steele, Indianas, Hoosier Impressionist. Following him To his boyhood home in Waveland IN. His later studio in Brown County Indiana named the House of the Singing Winds. The Hermitage is in Brookville IN, again a studio where he stated till 1907, when he left for Brown County. It is now well kept, honoring the painter and is a bed and breakfast, with reasonable rates that many plein air painters stay at.
My painting was painted on his back porch on October 17, 2020, with the Indiana Plein Air Painters (IPAPA), one of the oldest plein air groups in our country. Painted with M. Graham Oil Paints.
